Having just received a brand new iPhone (to replace my original after the touchscreen stopped working) I have been loathe to do anything nasty to it. It still has that new iPhone smell. The buttons are still crispy and sharp. It doesn’t have any of the distinct “character” marks on the corners from various (ahem!) interactions with pavement.

It’s great that your iPhone has a data plan and a killer mobile browser, but when you’re sitting at the airport waiting to catch a plane with your laptop right next to you, wouldn’t it be nice to use your full-on desktop browser? Out of the box your iPhone won’t allow you to tether your EDGE data connection to another computer wirelessly, but with a little ingenuity on your part you’ll be browsing the net on your laptop through your iPhone’s data service in no time.

Like the look of the iPhone or iPod Touch? Too cheap to buy a new one? Then why not hack your way to a sweet new interface. Apple’s newest products have a habit of making the old ones look out of date, so the chaps at iPod Hacking have redesigned the interface of the 5G and 5.5G iPods to use the new style graphics and icons.

I recently bought a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the built in navigation. I am able to connect and use my blackberry throught the bluetooth system in the car, UCONNECT. My IPhone connects half way in that it makes calls but does not play the sound through the speakers. The car does not allow for received calls either. IS there a work around or is IPhone not compatible with JEEP UCONNECT?

HandBrake is one of those applications that we adore here at TUAW HQ. It makes converting DVDs into a variety of digital files a snap (though only use it with DVDs you own. Don’t be pirates, kids). Chris Breen, of Macworld fame (and an amateur astronomer it would seem) shows us how to use HandBrake like a pro.
